Color Tip Tee!

This classic, set in sleeve tee is constructed from the top down. The front and back are knit flat until they’re joined at the underarm and the body is knit in the round. This tee utilizes a short row cap sleeve so there’s no seaming! The garment is finished with colorful twisted rib edgings. If you are familiar with my Dad’s Sweater pattern, the construction is very similar!

The sun is shining and I'm starting something new 🌞

I've been really scared to try spinning long draw but with some encouragement from @what.maya.made and the #100daysoflongdraw challenge I felt like now was the perfect time! There's still tons of progress to be made, I know these clips look a little like a short forward/long draw hybrid 😅 but I'm learning! And I'm confident it'll get better! Even if it's frustrating at times right now.

I've got lots of mixed feelings about this spin - and I'm okay with that! I originally was planning to spin this for the #drktravelershawl but I don't think I have enough yarn and I don't think I love the colors enough. This was a combo spin of three hand dyed braids I had in my stash and I think I was so motivated to use what I had that I didn't make sure the colors were perfect together. It might be giving more rainbow baby blanket than the fun neon blue forward rainbow I was imagining.

What do y'all think? I'll probably let it sit for a while and maybe come back loving it later! But in the meantime I need a new plan for #drkspinsthetraveler!!

Wanted to snap a couple pics of my #FernCollar in action! The perfect quick knit and great for travel - it doesn't take up too much suitcase room and is easy to pop on for extra warmth!

I used very different yarns than called for so I had to adjust the pattern to accommodate my gauge, but it worked out great!

Old Man of Storr has been a bucket list hike for me for a while now, and it definitely lived up. Made even more special by my Old Man of Storr yarn from @reddoorfs!! Kate visited when it was snowy so a bit of a different look, but she definitely captured Sctoland's trademark fogginess perfectly. It was too chilly to sit and knit for a while but I still snuck in one or two rows!

Unfortunately though if the roads are too curvy (or too beautiful) I have trouble looking down at what I'm working on. That's why this project has been seeing most of my knitting time! As you likely know, @what.maya.made and I love to make matching things! A while ago we decided to knit matching Aurelia Pullovers, and excitedly cast on together. Unfortunately, Maya started experiencing some elbow discomfort and it seemed like the cables were making it worse, so we put Aurelia to the side. Shortly after that I suggested that I could finish both our Aurelias, since I love knitting cables! And maybe Maya could knit me a different sweater without cables in return.

If y'all have been around here for a while you may know that I really don't love knitting colorwork. I LOVE the way it looks, but just don't enjoy the process. Luckily, Maya likes knitting colorwork, so we thought a cable/colorwork sweater swap was in order!

So this beautiful sweater was knit for me by my incredible friend and I honestly can't believe it. Wearing it feels so, so special. As a knitter I know exactly what it took to make it, and Maya was so purposeful at every step, even ripping back large sections to ensure it would be perfect 🥹 I love this sweater more than words, and can't wait to return the favor ❤️

Taking photos of myself and my knitwear is often a not so fun experience for me. I'll have my husband take a set of pics, then ask "Are they cute?" to which he always without fail says "Yes!" (I've learned he's not the most reliable source). He'll then show me the screen and I'll make some combination of noises reminiscent of "Ehhhhh" and then ask for another round. We repeat this until I'm happy with what I see on the screen, or (more likely) I decide to give up on this attempt. Sometimes I'll go back and look at the photos later and find some that I would characterize as "not so bad" and sometimes not.

It's rare that he shows me the screen and I react with an enthusiastic "Oh that's good!" but these photos were one of those times. Maybe the beautiful setting and incredible sweater made it just too hard for me to nit-pick, but whatever the reason that feels like a win.

Look closely for an un-trimmed end I forgot to tuck into my sweater. Perhaps there's always a nit to pick 😅

A moment for the handmade skirt 🙌 (and this massive monstera 😯)

Over the last few months I've been getting the itch to sew again... y'all may remember I didn't leave sewing on the best of terms. It may be because it's been a while and enough time has passed I've forgotten the turmoil, but I think it's because of how much I love this skirt. A self-drafted half-circle skirt using @jaclynsalem's video tutorial), this is probably my most successful make. I've taken it on every trip we've gone on and wearing it is an absolute delight.

Maybe the answer is to only sew skirts??

So I asked ChatGPT to help me determine my color season. I'd done an online test before and it came back Winter, which was great because I've always considered myself a cool neutrals girlie (black, white, cool greys). However, no matter how many times I changed the inputs, ChatGPT kept telling me I'm an Autumn!! I have absolutely no problem being an Autumn (hello rusty reds and mustards!!) EXCEPT I'm not sure I can let go of my cool neutrals. I started this #CrosshatchWrap before this color season crisis, and I'm determined to finish it even if it doesn't work with my color season. Because honestly it's too hard for me to tell! And I'm a firm believer in wearing whatever you want and feel good in!

@pasleyknits New Zealand collection was stunning and made even more perfect because of our plans to travel there! I grabbed this Fiordland National Park sock set to make myself some New Zealand socks while visiting New Zealand 🥹

Unfortunately we had a bag delay so I didn't have this yarn with me when we visited Fiordland, but it was still perfect for our trek through the rest of the country!

Just casually hanging out in the fernary with my new sweater! I finished my #DRKEverydaySweater on this trip and after a short time apart (lost luggage 😭) we're reunited! I know this is a pattern I'm gonna make again and again. It was fun to knit, fairly quick, and the fit is really good! Also I think sport weight is my favorite!

I used this project as an opportunity to track how long it takes me to knit a sweater! Each time I sat down to work on it I started a stopwatch and the total time was around 36 hours. This was honestly a little less time than I was expecting! Good to know that if I shirk all other responsibilities and don't sleep or eat properly I can have a new sweater in two days 😬😅
